Song Critique

Mickey Mixon has been reviewing and critiquing songs since 1988, so you can take comfort in knowing you are going to receive a critique by an experienced professional.

On this page we share how to submit your songs for critique and how Mickey will provide his critique service for you.

Examination

Mickey will examine your song’s lyric structure and correlation; title to lyric correlation; cadence and meter; hooks, rhymes and chimes; melody and chord structure; ministry and commercial appeal; and demo production and presentation.

Mickey will share the positives and negatives, and provide constructive suggestions.

Demo

You’ll need to submit a demo of your song.

You’ll need at least one vocalist singing your song.

You’ll need at least one instrument, piano or guitar, accompanying the vocal.

The vocal needs to be louder than the instrument but not so loud that Mickey cannot hear the instrument and chord progressions.

Your demo can be homemade or professionally recorded, but it needs to be audibly clear.

E-mail

E-mail your song via MP3 or WAV.

Send one song per e-mail.

Include song lyric/words in the body of the e-mail.

Do not attach lyrics to the e-mail but rather include them in the body of the e-mail.

E-mails with attached lyrics will need to be resubmitted, we do not open attached lyric sheets, for e-mail security reasons.

Please do not use E-mail Stationery, it is distracting and makes lyrics difficult to read. Thanks for not sending e-mail with stationery.

You need to include your first and last name, your phone number and your e-mail address in the body of your e-mail with your lyrics.

E-mail Review

Mickey will record his review of your song and e-mail it to you via MP3.

Payment

This service helps support GospelSongwriter.Com thus we charge a fee for critiques.

Fee: $30.00 (USD) per song

Payment must be received before service is rendered, credit card only, via our PayPal account.

Make payment at the bottom of this page, below. Click the dropdown button to select how many songs you will be paying to have critiqued, you can choose up to 5 songs per order. You can order as many song reviews as you wish but only up to 5 songs per order.

We use PayPal for our payment processing.

You don't need a PayPal account to employ Mickey's service.

You'll be returned to our services page after you complete your order.

Mickey will e-mail you to confirm he received your order and will proceed reviewing your song as soon as possible. Review submissions can take up to 14 business days depending on Mickey's schedule but he tries to complete them as quick as he can.
