Please read the following information carefully, it's simple but there is much to consider and you will be responsible to adhere to it should your membership be approved.

Tools

Things you might find helpful.

GSC and its staff make no guarantees nor are responsible for any business or relations between our artists and song writers, nor for any possible copyright infringements. We simply network, helping to make the connection and provide opportunities, and have successfully done so since June 1999.

Before We Get Started...

No offense and No disrespect intended but if you are a secular songwriter who has written a few Gospel songs, or will be writing a few Gospel songs, you don't qualify for G-team membership. This service was created and is provided for songwriters who dedicate their life and talent to writing the Gospel in song, thus the name of this website GospelSongwriter.com. We sincerely refer you to our friends at...

Composer: One who only writes melodies
Songwriter: One who writes words with accompanying melody

What Is The G-Team?

The G-Team is a component of the song placement service provided by GSC.

G-team is the abbreviated name for the GSC Team of Gospel songwriters.

The G-team is a group of Gospel songwriters with common goals and desires to provide Gospel music to Gospel artists for the Gospel community and ministry.

G-team membership is not available to secular songwriters. Our focus is the Gospel in song, thus the name of this website GospelSongwriter.com.

How Does It Work?

Similar to a music publisher but not as a music publisher, our G-team services help network our songwriters with the artists who use GSC for acquiring songs. It is a song acquisition service which helps make the artist/writer connection via the Internet, via GSC.

GSC is not a publishing company, it does not post song clips on this site, it only provides the networking between our artists and writers, similar to but not the same a classified advertisement.

Two Services

You will learn more as you read the information below but basically we offer two services, Song Search and Writers Directory. First, let's review Song Search, then we'll get to the directory.

Song Search

Song Search is a GSC service that has helped network hundreds of Gospel songwriters with hundreds of Gospel music artists. Here's how it works. When an artist submits a request for songs to review, via our Song Search page, that submission, along with the artist's contact information, is made available to our G-team members. Our members, in turn, submit their songs directly to the artist. The writer and artist then communicate and do business, if they desire to.

Writers Directory

Our Writers Directory contains a list of Gospel songwriters names which are linked to our writers' websites and webpages. The artist enters the Directory Form, submits a little info, then enters our directory for review and selection.

Note: You don't need to be listed in our directory to qualify for G-team membership but you do need to be a member to be listed in our directory.

Our artists may choose the convenience of our Song Search service or be selective and contact the writers of their choice via our Writers Directory.

 Artist/Writer Caliber

Artist

The caliber of artists that use GSC are novice, amateurs, semiprofessionals and professionals. Some artists desire songs for performance only, some desire songs for recording only, and some desire songs for both performance and recording. Some release music to radio, nationally and internationally. Click here for a list of a few of the artists who have used GSC.

Writer

The G-team is compiled of professional, semiprofessional, amateur and novice Gospel songwriters. If you are a Gospel songwriter, we invite you to submit a request for membership; who knows, you might be added to our growing team. To become and remain a G-team member you must read, agree to and comply with all the rules, guidelines and requirements of this ministry. Rules, guidelines and requirements of this ministry are subject to change without notification so please revisit GSC for revisions and updates. Thank you.

Okay, let's continue...

How Do I Benefit?

Directory/Song Search Benefit

How do I benefit from the Writers Directory and Song Search?

As for our Writers Directory it's simple, you apply to have your website or webpage listed in our directory. When an artist enters our directory, and if the artist contacts you via your site or page our directory has served its purpose. The rest is between you and the artist.

Note: You may request to have your website or webpage listed in our directory when you apply for G-team membership but please know, as a Christian organization we believe in righteous principals, thus your site/page may be rejected if it contains offensive content and advertisement, sensual or vulgar photos, or such like. We Christians have a godly reputation to maintain.

Also, as simple as this may seem, your name and contact information must be easily accessible on your site/page, if not your site/page listing may be rejected. You would be surprised at how many songwriters fail to include such important information; then wonder why no one has contacted them.

Okay, as for Song Search, please continue reading...

G-team E-mail List

Approved G-team members are placed on our exclusive G-team e-mail list, which provides E-alerts, reports, updates, news and information pertaining to GSC and G-team membership, as well as some pertinent news and info about the Gospel music community, and Mickey Mixon Ministries.

As indicated, above, when an artist submits a request for songs to review, via our Song Search page, that submission, along with the artist's contact info, is made available to our G-team members. We share these submissions, with our writers, via our G-team e-mail list. If approved, artist submissions are converted into E-alerts and e-mailed to our G-team members.

What's an E-alert? Read on...

E-alert

Two of the biggest hurdles for songwriters are "unsolicited material" and "timing". If a writer sends songs to an artist without the artist's permission the songs are considered "unsolicited" and may be disposed of, without reply. The problem with timing can be, if a writer submits songs too soon the songs could be lost in the everyday shuffle, and if the writer sends songs too late the songs have little to no chance of being recorded on the artist's new project. That is why our Song Search service is so beneficial for our members; their songs are received as solicited material and their submissions are right on time. How is this done? It is accomplished through our E-alert service.

When artists use our Song Search service their submissions are automatically e-mailed to our office for review. If the submission is approved it is e-mailed to our writers via our G-team e-mail list, this is our E-alert service.

E-alert means "electronic alert". When we send E-alerts (which are artist Song Search submissions) we are alerting our members, electronically, via our G-team e-mail list, that an artist is seeking songs for review. These e-mails/E-alerts include such information as the artist’s name, contact person’s name, the artist’s contact information, song demo submission due date, song style, and additional comments and info the artist may include. Our G-team members receive permission, via the artist's use of GSC (via E-alerts) to submit their songs to the artist, in compliance with the artist's submission/E-alert.

If you are approved for G-team membership you will need to visit our Song Search page and review the artist submission guidelines. Then, at the bottom of the Song Search page, enter and visit the submission form, it's what we forward to our members and you will need to be acquainted with it.

Styles & E-alerts

Five Styles

We have five divisions in our G-team which correlates with the five styles of Gospel music we serve; Black Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, Contemporary Gospel, Country Gospel, and Southern Gospel. We don't provide for other styles of Gospel music nor do we provide for secular writers and artists.

Five Divisions

If you are approved for G-team membership you will be added to the team division which correlates with your primary writing style. If, for example, your primary style is Country Gospel you will be assigned to the Country division, if your primary style is Bluegrass then you will be assigned to the Bluegrass division; all five styles are part of the G-team but each style has its division.

E-alerts

Our G-team e-mail service has a list for each division. E-alerts are e-mailed, to our members, according to the styles the artist chooses. If, for example, the artist chooses Southern Gospel then we e-mail that submission/E-alert to our Southern division, if the artist chooses both Southern and Black Gospel then we e-mail that submission/E-alert to our Southern and Black divisions, etc.

Our Writers Directory is also in divisions, for the convenience of our artists.

FYI: We advertise GSC a variety of ways including e-mail, trade magazines and U.S. postal mail. Advertising generates many opportunities for our members.

Rules & Guidelines

Copyright Infringement

By applying for membership you are declaring to be the writer of the songs you will be submitting (via this ministry) to the artists who use GSC.

G-team membership is only available to those whose primary and secondary writing styles are Southern Gospel, Country Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, Black Gospel, or Contemporary Gospel; the keyword being Gospel.

Gospel

GSC only supports writers whose songs have a clear Gospel message. Thus the name of this website GospelSongwriter.com.

Note: Submitting songs with diluted, obscured lyrics to this ministry and to our artists is grounds for membership rejection or cancellation, without notification.

Compliance

By registering for, and maintaining your, G-team membership you agree to be subject and committed to all rules, guidelines and requirements, which are subject to change without notice but will be posted on this website.

Failure of compliance is cause for automatic membership cancellation, without notice. Thank you for your understanding, commitment and compliance to our rules, guidelines and requirements.

Members must personally receive, process E-alerts and submit their songs to our artists. Allowing publishers, song submission services, management and assistants to submit members' songs to our artists on behalf of our members is prohibited and cause for automatic membership cancellation, without notice.

NOTE

Fair Warning

This is a BUSY ministry

We Send A Lot Of E-mail.

We service hundreds of artists and songwriters. Are you ready to work?

Although our writers aren't obligated to pitch their songs to every artist that uses our service please know GSC and our G-team are active.

If you don't like receiving a lot of e-mail, if you aren't up to the challenge of pitching your songs to the artists that use our Song Search service and Writers Directory, then you may not want to join our team.

Casing

When typing your information into our G-team membership registration form please do not use all UPPERCASE but rather "Sentence case" letters.

E-mail, website and webpage addresses need to be in lowercase letters.

CAPITALIZING ALL OF YOUR SUBMISSION INFORMATION MAKES IT DIFFICULT FOR OUR SYSTEM AND HINDERS THE MEMBERSHIP EVALUATION PROCESS. Thank you for using the correct letter casing; it helps our system better serve our members.

Note: If you do not use proper and required sentence casing your membership may be denied, without notice.

Submission Time

GSC manager, Mickey Mixon, reviews, approves or disapproves all G-team membership submission requests.

As an ordained minister, vocal and songwriting coach, with a busy schedule, G-team membership processing can take up to 15 days (or more) depending on holidays, weekends, and Mickey's scheduling.

If we have your correct e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail notifying you if your membership has been approved or disapproved. Disapproval is final and not arguable or debatable.

Upon receipt and review of your membership registration form, if your registration is approved, we will e-mail you information regarding the next phase of membership registration, which includes your demo submission package.

Team Placement

After review and approval of each applicant Mickey will place each new member in one of the five G-team divisions according to a combination of (1) the primary style applicant indicated (2) the music and arrangement of the songs on the applicant's CD demo (3) the music and content on applicant's website/webpage.

If new members have questions concerning their G-team division placement they may contact Mickey and discuss the matter.
